Core to IBM’s strategy is providing one-stop full-serviced IT resources to enable business capability. While IBM is uniquely positioned to achieve this; IBM tends to over-indulge in it’s own liquor and work almost entirely within its own eco-system (Tivoli, Lotus etc) This may not always provide the best solution for a customer. After all IBM is not always the thought leader or the quality leader in some segments.   Transformation Outsourcing
Traditional outsourcing has focused on delivering immediate returns to customers, sometimes at the expense of longer term innovation and even cost. It is about the outsourcer managing existing platforms more efficiently today and then up-selling new ‘out of scope’ capabilities at a later date.
Transformational outsourcing is about leveraging a more intimate relationship with a technology supplier to create a new technological platform that will be enable the business to be more successful often times it will also be more effective and efficient than the older platforms it replaces.
